The 2025 Policy Challenge seeks bold, innovative, and practical policy reforms that can strengthen social cohesion and foster a more unified Nigeria.
This competition is more than just an intellectual exercise—it is an opportunity to drive meaningful change. The Future Pathways Development Initiative (FPDI) invites Nigeria’s brightest young minds to propose well-researched, actionable policy solutions that address governance and social unity.
Eligibility Criteria for 2025 Policy Challenge Future Pathways Development Initiative (FPDI) For Young Nigerian Graduates
Who Can Apply?
- Open to: Undergraduate students currently enrolled (full-time or part-time) in a Nigerian tertiary institution during the 2024/2025 academic year.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old by August 2025.
- Team Structure: Minimum of 2 members, maximum of 4 per team.
- All team members must be from the same tertiary institution.
- Finalist Commitment: All team members must be available to attend the Policy Conference in Abuja on August 12, 2025 if selected.
Selection Process
Nigeria’s Social Cohesion Index (NSCI) currently stands at 39.6%, reflecting deep-rooted ethnic, regional, and governance challenges. The 2025 Policy Challenge is dedicated to finding real solutions to these pressing issues. We are empowering students to propose bold policy innovations in:
- Governance Reforms—Strengthening institutions to promote national unity.
- Political Representation – Ensuring fair, inclusive decision-making structures.
- Public Sector Transformation – Enhancing trust in government services.
How Will Your Proposal Be Judged?

How to Apply
- Step 1: Read the Rulebook Before you begin, download and read through the Rulebook—it contains all the information you need.Download Rulebook
- Step 2: Team Leader Creates the Team The Team Leader should create the team and copy the unique sign-up link provided after registration.
- Step 3: Team Members Join Using the Link The Team Leader shares the link with all other team members. Each member must use this exact link to register — doing so automatically assigns them to the correct team.
- Step 4: Team Leader Submits the Proposal Once all team members have registered, the Team Leader uploads the team’s policy proposal (PDF or DOCX format).
- A confirmation email will be sent once your proposal is successfully submitted.
- Format: PDF or DOCX
- Word Count: 2,000–4,000 words (excluding references)
- Abstract (250–350 words): A concise summary of your proposal.
- Policy Background: Context and background of the issue you’re addressing.
- Problem Statement: Why this policy area needs reform.
- Two or More Policy Options: Present viable and creative solutions.
- Recommended Action: The best option, with justifications.
- Evidence & Data: Strong research to back your points.
- Bibliography: Properly cited sources.
