The BCF Scholarships Program provides scholarships to youth of Barbadian heritage pursuing post-secondary education at Canadian universities and colleges. To date, they have granted 96 scholarships valued at $347,000.

Eligibility Criteria for Barbados Canada Foundation Scholarship 2025
You are eligible to apply for a BCF Scholarship if:
- (a)
- (1) you are a citizen of Barbados by birth or naturalization; or
- (2) at least one of your parents or one of your grandparents is or was a citizen of Barbados by birth or naturalization; Supporting documentation will be required on request
- (b) you are enrolled as a full-time student at a recognized college or university in Canada which is authorized by law to grant degrees, diplomas, or certificates; and
- (c) on the date that you submitted your application for a BCF Scholarship, you were not more than 30 years of age. (d) NOTE: You are also eligible to apply for a BCF Scholarship if you were a previous recipient

- Scholarships of $4,000 each are available to students
How to Apply
The following criteria are applied in the selection of scholarship recipients. Each criterion is weighted relative to the order listed below:
- Financial Need
- Academic Achievement
- Community Service
Application Requirements (Fillable PDF form):
- A completed application. Electronic signature will be accepted
- A letter of not more than 500 words written by you, describing why you should be a recipient of a BCF Scholarship. Your letter must include information on
- your academic achievements, including schools attended and dates;
- your community service/volunteer activities, other activities (sports/cultural), and
- your most important accomplishments and future goals.
- A letter of reference from a teacher from your high school, college or university
- A letter of reference from an individual associated with an organization where you have volunteered (e.g. church, charity, not-for-profit or community). This letter must be on the organization’s letterhead and must be from a person other than your teacher or a family member.
- One passport size photo – good quality head and shoulders shot in JPG file.
- An up-to-date, original official transcript from the college or university you are attending, sent directly to bcfscholarships@gmail.com from the educational institution. Downloaded, unofficial transcripts will not be accepted Canadian high schools’ transcripts may only be available in hardcopy. In that case, append a copy to the emailed application
To apply for a BCF Scholarship, please review the Application Guidelines carefully, and complete and submit the Application Form prior to the deadline for submission of applications stated in the Application Guidelines. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
