British Council GREAT Scholarships 2025

The British Council is a British organization specializing in international educational and cultural opportunities. It is registered as a charity both in England and Wales and Scotland. Founded in 1934 as the British Committee for Relations with Other Countries and granted a royal charter by King George VI in 1940, the British Council was inspired by Sir Reginald ("Rex") Leeper's recognition of the importance of "cultural propaganda" in promoting British interests. Its "sponsoring department" within the United Kingdom Government is the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, although it has day-to-day operational independence. Sir Ciarán Devane is its chief executive; he was appointed in July 2014 from Macmillan Cancer and replaced Sir Martin Davidson in January 2015.

Eligibility Criteria for British Council GREAT Scholarships 2025

  1. Applicants will only be considered for these awards if they are residents and citizens of one of the following countries: Bangladesh, France, Greece, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.
  2. Applicants who have previously studied in the UK are not eligible for the award unless they have studied at The University of Manchester.
  3. Awardees will be selected based on academic merit.
  4. Applicants must apply for the scholarship via an online form by 24 April 2025 and will be considered based on academic merit and the quality of their scholarship application. The link to the application form will be emailed to all relevant offer holders.
  5. Applicants must have taken their bachelor’s degree in one of the following countries: Bangladesh, France, Greece, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam. 6. Decisions will be made on applicants’ performance in their bachelor’s degree. Students who have completed postgraduate qualifications are welcome to apply, but we will only consider bachelor’s degrees when allocating the awards.
  7. Applicants must complete all sections of the application form. Incomplete forms will not be considered in the selection process.
  8. If offered a scholarship, awardees must accept the award by the date specified in the scholarship offer.
  9. Awardees must accept their course offer and pay their CAS deposit, if required, by 25 July 2025. Some courses will have an earlier acceptance deposit instead. If this is the case for your course, then you must pay this deposit by the date stated on your offer letter in order to avoid losing your place on the course. After 25 July 2025, the award will be withdrawn if no deposit has been paid.
  10. Should any of the grade information you provide prove to be false, the university reserves the right to withdraw the award.
  11. The award will be made as a discount on international tuition fees, and no payment will be made to the applicant.
  12. Applicants must be classified as 'international' for tuition-fee purposes.
  13. Applicants must be self-funded (i.e., not sponsored by a government or commercial funder).
