Council of Europe Hackathon 2025 – Chance to Win €3,000 + Free Trip to Strasbourg

These creative solutions will also enhance transparency in content moderation algorithms and will increase access to accurate information. Judges will choose 10 teams which will compete on the basis of the novelty of the idea, diversity of teams, and prior experience and achievements of team members. The teams selected in this international competition will pitch their ideas in the final event, and the winning team will get €3000. Participants have to propose solutions that empower democratic resilience in line with the values of the European Convention on Human Rights. They can propose solutions from different angles, including Technical Tools and AI Solutions, Policy and Legal Innovations, Media Literacy and Educational Tools, Social and Participatory Solutions, or Infrastructure and Visibility Tools. The International hackathon for democracy includes three online warm-up sessions before the event, followed by a final in-person, fully funded event in Europe (Strasbourg).

Eligibility Criteria for Council of Europe Hackathon 2025 – Chance to Win €3,000 + Free Trip to Strasbourg

Participants have to apply as teams.
Individuals living in a Council of Europe member state are eligible to apply.
The teams formed should be multidisciplinary.
Teams should reflect gender diversity.
Teams can be of up to 5 members who should all be registered in a member state of the Council of Europe.
All submissions should be in English.

How to Apply

Participants have to submit a Concept summary of their proposed solution along with registering their team members.
The summary should have a brief description of the solution you are proposing and how it will solve the challenge.
Teams selected by the Jury will move forward to develop their full solutions during the hackathon.
Participants can register by entering information of all team members.
