Step 4 – the supervisor will advise on the suitability of the subject matter and recommend whether to submit a formal application.
Submit your application
Once you’ve carried out the steps above, please follow the instructions on the ‘Apply’ tab which is available within each of the research subjects pages.

The University is aware of the temptation to use Generative AI, (including ChatGPT), however these tools do not always generate accurate and up-to-date information. Our academics, who are experts in their field, are very good at identifying when text has been generated in this way and expect your research proposal to be written in your own words. We need to know that you have the academic skills required to write a thesis and can only support you on your journey when we see your own work.
In the Funding section – please state “Diamond Jubilee Research Scholarship 2025/26”
It is only when a supervisory team (minimum of 2 supervisors) has been appointed and accepted, will a conditional offer of a place be issued. You need to have a supporting statement from your chosen supervisor to be considered for this award
