Aimed at enabling the most promising young leaders from across Africa to access an ALU education, despite financial adversity or economic hardship. The program implements a full scholarship programme and places particular emphasis on young women, refugees, and differently abled young Africans.

Eligibility Criteria for Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program At African Leadership University 2026

To be eligible to apply for any Financial aid at ALU, one must first meet the Admissions requirements. If eligible for admission to ALU, an applicant will be required to provide additional information during their application, which will be used to determine their eligibility for any of the financial aid offerings available at the time.

1. Applicants must be otherwise unable to afford ALU tuition with any other form of aid. Individuals must demonstrate financial need and socio-economic disadvantage, which acceptable supporting documents can verify.
2. Aged 26 and below. Individuals meeting the following descriptions are especially encouraged to apply;
3. Female
4. Refugees and displaced individuals
5. Individuals with physical or learning disabilities
6. Be academically strong with clear potential to thrive at ALU
7. Meet ALU admission criteria
8. Strong National Exam Scores of at least a B
9. Applicants must demonstrate the following qualities:
10. Strong leadership potential
11. Active contributors in their communities and a commitment to leverage this opportunity to give back to their communities

Here’s what our 3-step application process entails:

Stage 1 – Introduction: This first step is a basic form to tell us a bit about who you are.

Stage 2 – Additional Information Section: On successful completion of the Introduction, you will be asked to provide additional information and upload required documents to support your ALU application.

Stage 3—Finances: This final stage will help you to understand the financial contribution you will need to make in order to support your ALU studies. Additionally, you will find out if you qualify to apply for ALU financial aid.
