Impressed by the positive impact of the past three cohorts of the Media Innovation Programme under its sponsorship, MTN Nigeria has elected to sponsor yet a 4th Cohort for Nigerian journalists in 2025.
The Media Innovation Programme co-designed and facilitated by the School of Media and Communication (SMC), Pan-Atlantic University, will be open for applications for the 4th consecutive time from March 24, 2025, through the school’s website. The 4th Cohort of the 6-week programme which is fully sponsored by MTN Nigeria is slated to commence on May 19, through October 24, 2025, with twenty (20) Nigerian journalists from different media outfits who scale through the selection process.
The MTN Media Innovation Programme (MTN MIP):
The MTN MIP is premised on the understanding that innovation drives change and so intends to expand the horizons of participants and build new approaches to problem-solving and solution-oriented media practice for industry excellence and for the benefit of humanity. As stated by the Dean of the School, “SMC will leverage its extensive experience in training media professionals to equip this next cohort. And we will do this with our usual emphasis on creativity and ethics.”
Cohort 4 of the programme will build on the successes of the last three cohorts to further consolidate its leading position as the most impactful training programme ever endowed for Nigerian journalists. Past cohorts have shown the capacity of the programme to bring about a positive shift in the careers of the beneficiaries, enabling many of them to skyrocket to new positions and responsibilities after the training. The MTN MIP-4 will, as usual, stir up the spirit of innovation in the participants to empower the Nigerian media practitioners to be better at their jobs and to drive innovations that will potentially create and enthrone the much-needed sustainability in the industry.
The potential of the programme to expose the participants to learn how ICT powers the media and how the media magnifies ICT in their symbiotic relationship, as well as how the media can be potent weapons for successful diplomatic engagements, is greater now than before.
