2025 Sustainable Development Scholarship for Postgraduate

Are you passionate about sustainability? This special scholarship programme has been developed for our international postgraduate students who can demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development.
University College Birmingham is committed to embedding and promoting sustainable practices across our campus, our university community, and wider society (find out more here). We welcome students from around the world whose academic interests and graduate objectives align with our values.
Our Sustainable Development Award is open for applications from new international students starting on a full-time postgraduate course (e.g., MA/MSc courses), offering a scholarship worth 25% of the first-year tuition fee.
Successful applicants will be required to report to a panel during their studies on how they are continuing to prioritize sustainability in their academic work, extracurricular engagement, and post-study plans. You may also be asked to contribute towards sustainability initiatives within the University, such as assisting at events, talks, or marketing activities connected to our sustainable objectives.
Eligibility Criteria for 2025 Sustainable Development Scholarship for Postgraduate
To apply for this scholarship, you must fulfill the following criteria:
- You must have received and accepted an offer to study on a full-time postgraduate programme at University College Birmingham starting in September 2025. Part-time courses, distance learning courses, or other levels of study are not eligible.
- You must have overseas fee status and be paying overseas tuition fees. Home fee payers are not eligible.
- The minimum academic requirement is 2:1 honors (or international equivalents).
- This scholarship is available to students in their first year of study only.
- You agree to provide testimonials, feature in case studies, and/or participate in marketing activities upon request.
Benefits of 2025 Sustainable Development Scholarship for Postgraduate
- 25% of the first-year tuition fee is covered.

- Obtain an offer.
- Submit your application via this link for the Sustainable Development Scholarship by 31 May 2025.
- As part of your application, you will be required to submit a personal statement detailing your sustainability-related motivations and anticipated outcomes of your postgraduate course, as well as any prior activity or experience within this area. Your application will then be assessed by a panel of academic staff who have expertise in sustainability.
- You will be notified of the outcome via email.
