American Florists Exchange Scholarship 2026

The American Floral Endowment (AFE) awards over 30 annual scholarships to support students pursuing degrees in floriculture and horticulture. Designed for sophomore through graduate-level students, these scholarships help reduce financial barriers and foster new leaders in the floriculture industry. Awards range from $500 to $5,000 and are issued jointly to the recipient and their educational institution.

Applicants can apply for up to six scholarships through the AFE Online Scholarship Platform. A completed application includes an online form, two letters of recommendation, transcripts, and a resume. Notifications are issued by July 1 each year.

Eligibility Criteria for American Florists Exchange Scholarship 2026

To apply for any of our scholarships you must…

  1. Be pursuing a career in or related to FLORICULTURE or HORTICULTURE.
  2. Be a CITIZEN OR RESIDENT OF THE U.S. OR CANADA or be enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the U.S. or Canada.
  3. Have a minimum 2.0 grade point average.

How to Apply

Complete ONE application online. The deadline is May 1 for all application components (online application, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation). Do not wait until the last minute. Each application and supporting document must be written in English or include an English translation.

The following checklist will help you prepare a complete application:

  1. Online application
  2. Two letters of recommendation
  3. Preferably one from a teacher and one from an employer. Please do not submit more than two letters of recommendation. Upload recommendations to your online application as a PDF. Letters of recommendation uploaded or requested will be applied to all scholarships selected.
  4. Resume
  5. Transcripts from your most recent school do not need to be official. Upload transcripts to your online application as a PDF.

If you wish to copy an application for multiple scholarships, follow this process:

  1. Finalize an application for one scholarship.
  2. Select My Account > My Applications > Complete > Copy Application > Make a Copy
  3. Review all information before submitting to confirm you meet all criteria.
  4. If recommendation letters must be sent separately, email the PDF to afe@endowment.org by the May 1 deadline.
  5. If transcripts must be sent separately, email the PDF to afe@endowment.org by the May 1 deadline.
  6. Those applying for an international scholarship must upload relevant documentation of travel plans and/or acceptance in a work/study program.
