Credit Union Foundation of BC Bursary Program 2025

The Credit Union Foundation of BC was established in 1958 by BC credit unions to support members pursuing post-secondary education. Through this cooperative spirit, credit unions have helped thousands of members achieve their dreams and, in turn, build stronger, more vibrant communities.

Eligibility Criteria for Credit Union Foundation of BC Bursary Program 2025

Applicants who do not meet the following criteria are not eligible for a bursary:

1. Demonstrated financial need.
2. Proof of enrollment, tuition payment, and transcripts are required.
3. Recent letter of reference from a credit union, coach or other individual that speaks to your community involvement and shared credit union values.
4. Must be a BC resident who is a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or designated as a protected person.
5. Must be in attendance at a public Canadian post-secondary school when the application is submitted.
6. Applicants attending accredited private schools will only be considered if the program is not offered at a public school.
7. Programs of study may be academic, vocational, technical or technological.
8. Graduate and postgraduate students are not eligible.

Selection Process

1. Applications will be reviewed via the awards committee, taking into consideration financial need, the length of the program, the year of study, efforts to minimize costs, personal statements of special circumstances, grades, etc. All decisions are final.
2. Bursaries are disbursed during the course of the program. The CUFBC will send funding by Interac e-transfer to the email address on file. Students will be notified as to when they can expect to receive their funding.
3. Recipients may be eligible for up to two awards per year.

As required by Revenue Canada, a T4A will be issued the following spring for income tax purposes. It is the responsibility of the recipient to advise us of any address changes.
