The Engineers and Geoscientists BC Foundation offers the Frank Baumann Bursary, valued at $2,500, to support undergraduate students enrolled in engineering or geoscience programs in British Columbia who are pursuing studies in geohazards.

This bursary honours Frank Baumann, P.Eng., a respected professional in geotechnical engineering, risk assessment, and snow/earth stability. He was also a mentor, teacher, and volunteer who gave his time to organizations such as Search and Rescue and the UBC Varsity Outdoor Club.

Eligibility Criteria for Frank Baumann Bursary 2025-2026

  1. Applicants must be an undergraduate students in their third year or above, enrolled in an engineering or geoscience program, and pursuing studies in the area of geohazards.
  2. Applicants must be full-time students in the current academic year (co-op students are considered full-time students and are eligible to apply).
  3. Applicants must be studying at a BC post-secondary institution.
  4. A student is only eligible for one Engineers and Geoscientists BC Foundation scholarship each academic year. If you are successful in more than one Engineers and Geoscientists BC Foundation scholarship competition, you will only receive the award with the highest value.

    Previously successful applicants who still qualify under the criteria above are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
