Hamburglobal Funding Program 2025

Hamburglobal is a funding program by the University of Hamburg that provides monthly financial support between €350 and €550 for students who go abroad during their studies. The grant covers study abroad, internships, language courses, specialist training, and thesis preparation abroad. Funding is available for up to 3 months, or up to 6 months for two-semester stays. Stays in Erasmus-funded European countries are not eligible.

Eligibility Criteria for Hamburglobal Funding Program 2025

All students enrolled at the University of Hamburg and who want to complete their degree at the University of Hamburg may apply (visiting and exchange students are not eligible). Students must be enrolled at the time of application.

Selection Process

A committee comprised of academic staff members and students at the University of Hamburg select Hamburglobal scholarship recipients. The following criteria are applied during selection:

1. completeness of application
2. academic achievement
3. extracurricular qualifications and general personal criteria such as voluntary service, political, social, cultural, or athletic activities
4. knowledge of the language of instruction or work, if applicable
5. relevance of host country or institution

Benefits of Hamburglobal Funding Program 2025

€350 to €550 to cover living expenses (country-dependent, max. 3 months; 6 months for two-semester stays; monthly subsidy rates 2025; rates 2026).
