NASA Lifelines Winter/Spring 2026 Fellowship

The NASA Lifelines Fellowship Program connects early-career scientists and humanitarians to NASA’s mission of advancing Earth science for humanitarian impact. Fellows engage in research, collaborate with global partners, and co-design NASA Lifelines program components that bridge science and social good.

Over a six-month term, participants develop leadership skills, build networks, and contribute to real-world humanitarian initiatives that use Earth observation data to inform critical decisions.

The Winter/Spring 2026 Fellowship runs from January 5th, 2026, to July 6th, 2026, offering a unique platform for those passionate about using science for positive change.

Eligibility Criteria for NASA Lifelines Winter/Spring 2026 Fellowship

  1. At least 18 years of age.
  2. Strong interest in Earth Science / Humanitarian / Geospatial fields
  3. Must be a U.S. Citizen or otherwise legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  4. Participants are required to be located and work from within the 50 U.S. states and/or Washington, DC for the duration of the 6-month term. Virtual participants are not authorized to work remotely outside the U.S.
  5. Technology Requirement

    1. A working Laptop or desktop computer that can run Microsoft, Adobe, GIS programs.
    2. High-speed internet connection.
    3. Any required software and/or licensing will be provided to participants once the program begins.

    Selection Process

    1. The NASA Lifelines application and selection processes are managed on behalf of NASA by DevGlobal Partners.
    2. Applications will be reviewed by the NASA Lifelines Team.
    3. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted to arrange a day and time. Interviews will be conducted over video conference and/or phone. Interviews will be conducted by one or more members of the NASA Lifelines Team.
    4. After the review process is complete and selections are made, each applicant will receive a notification via email regarding the outcome of the selection decision.
    5. The Lifelines fellowship takes place twice a year. If you are not selected for this term, we encourage you to apply during the next opportunity window.


Benefits of NASA Lifelines Winter/Spring 2026 Fellowship

  1. Fellows will be provided with two stipend installments of $2500 each throughout the duration of the 6-month term based on project milestones. The first stipend will be paid after the first month of the fellowship and training is complete. The second stipend will be paid in the 4th month of the 6th-month term.
