Wayne Pferdehirt Memorial Scholarship 2025

The Wayne Pferdehirt Memorial scholarship celebrates the indelible impact of Wayne Pferdehirt, a visionary faculty associate and program director at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Wayne’s contagious enthusiasm, commitment to student advancement, and passion for engineering excellence left an enduring mark on our community. Wayne was part of a team in 1998 developing the university’s first wholly online degree, the Master of Engineering in Professional Practice (MEPP), which is now the Master of Science in Engineering Management. As one of the first online engineering graduate degrees in the nation, the MEPP program became a benchmark for other institutions and programs to follow.

Graduate students in the Master of Science in Engineering Management can apply for the Wayne Pferdehirt Memorial scholarship. This award is intended for those committed to community service and/or mentoring in honor of Wayne Pferdehirt.

Eligibility Criteria for Wayne Pferdehirt Memorial Scholarship 2025

1. Enrolled or applying for the Master of Science in Engineering Management at UW–Madison
2. Minimum 3.3 GPA (for current students)
3. Demonstrated community service, mentoring, and engineering excellence
4. Preference given to students with no other funding, working in nonprofits, or making a career change
5. Must enroll in at least 2 credit hours

1. This is a renewable $2600 scholarship available every semester.

How to Apply

Prospective and current students wishing to apply to the Engineering Management MS Wayne Pferdehirt Scholar scholarship may submit their application by the application deadline. Applications submitted after the deadline may not receive full consideration.

Students who have not been accepted into the Engineering Management MS program must submit the full program application to the Graduate School to be eligible in addition to the scholarship application.
