Women in Data Science New Zealand Scholarship 2025 for Undergraduate Students

This scholarship is funded by Women in Data Science New Zealand. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote women pursuing a career in Data Science. It is also an investment towards local talent to provide female students in data science with financial support to continue their study at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.

Eligibility Criteria for Women in Data Science New Zealand Scholarship 2025 for Undergraduate Students

  1. Applicants must be currently studying a postgraduate programme (not including PhD) in data science, Statistics, artificial intelligence, or Computer Science in 2025 at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
  2. Open to domestic and international students.
  3. Selection Criteria
  4. The applicants are expected to have a commitment to working in the data science profession, a good academic record, good communication skills, and a clear vision of what they can achieve with data science.
  5. Selection Process
  6. The successful recipients will be selected by WiDS Co-Ambassadors Kate Kolich (WiDS NZ co-chair), Bing Xue (Professor of AI, Victoria University of Wellington), and Ivy Liu (Professor in Statistics, Victoria University of Wellington).
  7. Documents Required for Application

    1. A personal statement outlining your current and/or proposed programme of study.
    2. A CV
    3. A character reference (to be requested via the online application)

A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
