Eligibility Criteria for SSHRC Canada Postdoctoral Research Award at Brock University 2025

Applicants must:

  1. Have completed or expect to complete a PhD between Sept 2021 and Sept 2025
  2. Not currently holding or having held a tenure-track position
  3. Not have previously received SSHRC postdoctoral funding
  4. Propose a research program in SSHRC-eligible disciplines
  5. Secure a supervisor and host department at an eligible Canadian university

Selection Process

Applications are assessed based on

(1) Research Potential and Experience (50%)

  1. Fellowships or scholarships obtained
  2. Publications and prior research
  3. Timely completion of doctoral studies

(2) Quality of Proposed Research Program (50%)

  1. Originality and potential contribution to the field
  2. Feasibility and clarity
  3. Fit with the host institution and supervisor support

Scoring Scale:

  1. 5–6: Very good to excellent
  2. 4–4.9: Good to very good
  3. 3–3.9: Satisfactory to good
  4. Below 3: Unsatisfactory (not recommended)
