The Veterans Bursary Program was established to disburse monies from the Bursary Fund as per the Federal Court of Canada-issued Court File Number T-463-07. The court order names Universities Canada as the administrator of the bursary program.

The Veterans Bursary Program is administered by Universities Canada in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada and the McInnes Cooper and Gowling WLG law firms.

Eligibility Criteria for Universities Canada Veterans Bursary Program 2025

Who Can Apply:

1. A Class Member of the court cases Manuge v. Her Majesty the Queen or Toth v. Her Majesty the Queen.
2. OR a spouse, child, grandchild, niece, nephew, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law selected by a Class Member.
3. Children/grandchildren/nieces/nephews can be biological, adopted, stepchildren, common-law children, or legal wards.
4. If the Class Member is deceased, their estate’s official representative can designate someone.

Education Requirements:

1. Must be enrolled (currently or in the last 5 academic years: 2019–2024) in a post-secondary program (college, university, vocational/technical school, etc.).
2. Program can be part-time or full-time, and online or in-person.
3. No restrictions on the field of study.
4. Program must meet basic duration and time commitment criteria set by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Application Documents

1. Proof of post-secondary enrollment (invoice, timetable, transcript, etc.)
2. Social Insurance Number (SIN)
3. Direct deposit info (void cheque or form)

Benefits of Universities Canada Veterans Bursary Program 2025

1. $2,500 CAD bursary.
2. Past recipients of the $1,300 version may apply to receive an extra $1,200.
