The University of Sheffield is offering a fully funded 4-year PhD studentship in partnership with Shell, focusing on enhancing the CoronaScreen groundwater risk assessment tool by integrating Natural Source Zone Depletion (NSZD) processes to better predict contaminant transport and support sustainable groundwater management.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Sheffield PhD Studentship: NSZD & Groundwater Risk Modelling (2025)

  1. Must be a UK student.
  2. First-Class or Upper Second-Class degree (or equivalent) in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, Geosciences, or related STEM fields.
  3. Experience in numerical modeling and data analysis.
  4. Programming skills (Python, MATLAB, etc.) are desirable but not mandatory.
  5. Strong motivation to build coding and modeling skills.
  6. Selection process
