Universitat de Valènciacon, with the collaboration of the Generalitat Valenciana, announces scholarships for students who are fleeing war or human rights violations, particularly from Palestine, and who are potentially or effectively included in the scope of Law 12/2009, of 30 October, regulating the right to asylum and subsidiary protection.
The Refugee Scholarships are aimed at students whose personal and/or family situation has been affected by armed conflicts, violations of human rights, or humanitarian crises and who are unable to access or continue university studies in their country of origin or residence. Particularly, this Programme is aimed at students in any of these situations:
- Students with refugee status.
- Applicants or beneficiaries of international protection.
- Applicants or beneficiaries of stateless status.
- Applicants or beneficiaries of temporary protection.
- Students in vulnerable situations in their home countries, who have been forcibly displaced from living areas, who suffer human rights violations or violence.

Eligibility Criteria for University of Valencia International Refuge Plan Scholarships 2025-2026
New applicants:
- Having been forced to abandon their university studies.
- Undergraduate students must have completed at least one course or 30 credits.
- Master's degree students must hold a university degree that allows access to an official master's degree of the University of Valencia.
- Applicants must not hold Spanish nationality, dual nationality including Spanish, or the nationality of any other European Union member state.
- Applicants must be in one of the protection situations outlined in the first clause.
Renewals:
- These are available for scholarship holders from the 2024 call who are continuing their studies at the UV. Students who received a scholarship for a master’s degree that has now been completed will not be eligible for renewal.
The duration of the grant will be one year, from September 1st, 2025, to August 31st, 2026.
Documents Required for Application
- Passport.
- Written proof of the situations provided in the first article.
- Written proof of the socio-economic situation. Referral letters from NGOs or international organizations that help refugees/asylum seekers can be taken into account.
- Documentation accrediting the situation of economic need in which the applicant finds himself and that makes it impossible for him to take charge of the economic cost of the studies. Among others, guarantees or letters of recommendation from NGOs or international aid organizations for refugees/asylum defenders may be taken into account.
- Application form (according to annex III) duly filled in and signed.
- Documentation accrediting the studies carried out partially or completely, taking into account that the corresponding bachelor's and master's degrees will only be issued in the event that the beneficiaries meet the requirements established in the regulations to obtain them.
Benefits of University of Valencia International Refuge Plan Scholarships 2025-2026
The scholarship includes the following components:
- Full exemption from tuition and administrative fees for the 2025-26 academic year.
- Free accommodation and meals in a Residence Hall indicated by the University of Valencia.
- Health, repatriation, and civil liability insurance
- Spanish language course for the first semester of the academic year 2025-2026 at the Language Centre of the University of Valencia, only for new applicants.
- Pocket money: 2,000 euros in a single endowment by nominative check, once the beneficiary arrives at the UV facilities or at the start of the 2025-26 academic year.
- A round-trip flight between the applicant’s location and Valencia, only for new applicants
