The Zeribe Nwosu Foundation (ZNF) hereby launches the ZNF Annual Essay Competition for the year 2025. In this essay, authors are to discuss the importance of collaboration (whether with colleagues, industry, within and across institutions, local or international) in career advancement. Authors are encouraged to use examples to reinforce their essay. The essay to be submitted must be original and that of the authors. However, we encourage all authors to use this opportunity to learn to seek feedback from peers or mentors.

Eligibility Criteria for Zeribe Nwosu Foundation (ZNF) Annual Essay Competition 2025

  1. The author must be an undergraduate in any Nigerian university (private or public).
  2. Individuals that would have completed NYSC by May 31, 2025, are not eligible to apply.
  3. Only one submission is permitted per author.
  4. Essays that do not conform to the essay specifications below will be deemed ineligible.
  5. Only submissions made using this form will be considered. Unsolicited emailing of the essay to the foundation is not allowed.

Benefits of Zeribe Nwosu Foundation (ZNF) Annual Essay Competition 2025

1st Prize - N100,000 (Fifty thousand Naira)

2nd Prize - N75,000 (Forty thousand Naira)

3rd Prize - N50,000 (Thirty thousand Naira)

+ 2 Honorable Mentions (at N25,000 each)

*NOTE - Collusion or plagiarism will lead to automatic disqualification. Essays written with AI will score low


How to Apply

ESSAY SPECIFICATIONS

1. Essay should be a maximum of 2,000 words (excluding references if included)

2. Essay document layout should be: font size - 12, font type - Arial and line spacing - 1.5


TIMELINE

Submission deadline/closing date - May 31, 2025

Result announcement - August 1, 2025

EVALUATION/REVIEW

  1. Each essay will be reviewed by at least two persons who will assign scores (in percent) as follows:
  2. Adherence to essay specifications = 10
  3. Organization/structure/logical flow = 10
  4. Clearly outlined opportunities (with explanations) = 20
  5. Clearly outlined threats (with explanations) = 25
  6. Use of solid examples to buttress points = 10
  7. Grammatical and spelling correctness = 15
  8. Solid, convincing conclusions = 10
  9. Evidence of plagiarism or reliance on AI = Disqualification
