Ministry of Education (MOE) 2025 Taiwan Scholarship Programme for Nigerian Students

The Taiwan Scholarship is granted by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE) to encourage outstanding Nigeria students (excluding students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau) to undertake degree programs in Taiwan. It offers study opportunities for a wide range of disciplines at universities in Taiwan. This program also aims at promoting people-to-people relationship between Nigeria and Taiwan, and increasing bilateral academic and educational links of higher learning as well. Likewise, focal point of the program is to develop outstanding and prospective professionals and experts to meet the needs in a global village.

Eligibility Criteria for Ministry of Education (MOE) 2025 Taiwan Scholarship Programme

An applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

1. High school graduate or above, with an excellent academic performance in most recent formal academic experience, of good moral character, and does not possess criminal records.
2. Citizen of Federal Republic of Nigeria;
3. Not a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan);
4. Not a R.O.C. (Taiwan) Overseas Compatriot student;
5. Has never enrolled in Taiwan for the same level of degree studies;
6. Is not an exchange student in accordance with any agreements of cooperation between an international university/college and an educational institute in Taiwan, at the time of receiving a Taiwan Scholarship;
7. Has never received the scholarship to undertake any degree programs for more than the total award period of 5 years;
8. Has never been disqualified from a Taiwan Scholarship;
9. Is not a recipient of any other scholarship or subsidy offered by the Taiwan government or by any other educational institutions in Taiwan.

Application Documents

1. A completed Taiwan Scholarship Application Form
2. A photocopy of the applicant’s Nigerian passport
3. A photocopy of diploma and transcript of highest degree obtained (Please obtain an authenticated translation if the original is not in English or Chinese. Translated documents must be authenticated by a Taiwan representative office.)
4. A photocopy of application for admission to a participating university in Taiwan(for example, photocopies of the application fee remittance, the application form, and a notice or email from the university/college acknowledging receipt of the application.)
5. A photocopy of language proficiency proof:(a) Applications for non all-English study programs: Photocopy of score report or certificate for attaining Level 3 or above on the “Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language” (TOCFL).(b) Applications for all-English study programs: If English is not your native language, a score report for an English proficiency exam, such as the TOEFL, is required.
6. Applicants who apply to a program not included in the Ministry of Education’s English Program List must provide a photocopy of an all-English program proof document issued by their intended university/college in Taiwan.
7. Two reference letters – from a principal, a college or university president, professors, and/or supervisors – personally signed, and placed in sealed envelopes.
8. A completed “Taiwan Scholarship Terms of Agreement.”

Duration of Scholarships

1. Undergraduate program: maximum 4 years;
2. Master program: maximum 2 years;
3. Doctoral program: maximum 4 years.

Benefits of Ministry of Education (MOE) 2025 Taiwan Scholarship Programme

Living allowance:

(a) Undergraduate: A monthly stipend of NTD15,000 (approximately US$468)

(b) Master: A monthly stipend of NTD20,000 (approximately US$625)

(c) Doctoral: A monthly stipend of NTD20,000 (approximately US$625)

How to Apply

Selection Process

1. Applications are reviewed based on academic excellence and submitted documents.
2. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview.
3. Scholarship awardees will be notified by May 30, 2025.
4. Selected candidates must submit proof of university admission by June 30, 2025.
