KU Leuven Scholarship for Central and South America 2026–2027

The KU Leuven scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student from Central and South America who wishes to pursue a Master's or Advanced Master's degree at KU Leuven. KU Leuven is committed to making higher education accessible to students from all backgrounds, regardless of their financial circumstances. Therefore, the University has established a fund for donations from the global KU Leuven community to award scholarships to outstanding students who wish to pursue one of our programmes.

By establishing a scholarship, the University hopes to support and inspire talented students to begin their quest to change the world as we know it today.

Eligibility Criteria for KU Leuven Scholarship for Central and South America 2026–2027

  1. Citizens of Central and South American Countries.
  2. The student has a high level of academic performance and potential. Excellent study results are reflected in a high Grade Point Average (GPA), as indicated on the transcript of records.
  3. The previous degree(s) should have been obtained at a higher education institution outside Flanders. International students who have completed a credit mobility at a host Flemish higher education institution are still eligible for a KU Leuven Scholarship for Central and South America.
  4. Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate a good knowledge and command of English, regardless of the minimum score required by the programme. Accepted English language tests are:
  5. Online TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): minimum overall score of 94
  6. IELTS (International English Language Testing System): minimum overall score of 7
  7. Cambridge CPE (Cambridge Proficiency English): minimum level C2
  8. Note: The language test must be taken before the 15 January application deadline. Language test results can be added after the deadline.

    info: Students who have previously completed an English-taught programme in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America do not need to submit a certificate of English language proficiency.

Benefits of KU Leuven Scholarship for Central and South America 2026–2027

  1. Recipients of the KU Leuven Scholarship for Central and South America receive a full tuition fee waiver and pay only an annual administration fee of €136.50.
  2. The incoming student will receive a one-time allowance of €4,000 for the entire duration of the programme at KU Leuven.

How to Apply

  1. Step 1 : Submit a complete application file for an eligible Master’s programme before 15 January 2026, 23.59 CET, including the KU Leuven Scholarships & Master Mind Candidacy Form as an annexe. This annexe should be uploaded in the application tool under the document type "Annexe ". Download the Candidacy Form here.
  2. Step 2 : Register your scholarship candidacy via the online registration tool before 15 January 2026, 23.59 CET.
  3. After nomination: If you have been nominated as a candidate, you will be informed before 10 March 2026 and you will be asked to submit a 1-minute motivational video for the next selection phase by 18 March 2026.
  4. To be considered for the KU Leuven Scholarship for Central and South America, nominated candidates must participate in the Master Mind selections.
