Study in the UK: Sussex Sanctuary Scholarships 2025 (Full Tuition Waiver & Living Costs Covered)

This scholarship is offered to forced migrants or applicants granted a temporary form of leave only, to provide financial assistance in order to enable them to take up a place on a master's degree at the University of Sussex. Therefore, applicants will be required to provide evidence of this in order to apply.
Eligibility Criteria for Study in the UK: Sussex Sanctuary Scholarships 2025 (Full Tuition Waiver & Living Costs Covered)
The scholarship is open to all eligible Master’s programs except,
- Certificates and Diplomas (including PGCE)
- Courses at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS)
- Courses at IDS
- Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher status)
- Degrees in Social Work (if receiving an NHS bursary)
- Online courses
- School Direct teaching courses
- Master's funded by the research councils (e.g., ESRC 1+3 funding)
- Courses offered at partner institutes such as the International Study Centre (ISC)
Also, to be eligible for this scholarship, you must have received an offer of a place to study a Master’s degree at the University of Sussex. starting in September 2025. You must also:
- Have submitted, or are the dependent of someone who has submitted, an application to the UK Home Office for recognition as a Refugee; or
- Have been granted a temporary form of leave to remain in the UK as a result of an asylum application (e.g., limited leave to remain, humanitarian protection) and not be eligible for funding from Student Finance England; or
- Be a partner/child of an asylum seeker or an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child; and
- Have a household income of under £35,000; and
- You are unable to access UK government student financial support because of your current immigration status
How are Applicants Selected?
Applicants will be assessed based on their immigration status, financial need, and ineligibility for UK government student financial support. Final decisions will be made before July 2025.
Required Documents
Applicants must provide documentation verifying:
- Immigration status (asylum claim, temporary leave, etc.)
- Proof of residence in the UK
- Financial status (evidence of household income)
- Offer letter from the University of Sussex for a Master’s program
Benefits of Study in the UK: Sussex Sanctuary Scholarships 2025 (Full Tuition Waiver & Living Costs Covered)
Recipients of the scholarship will receive:
- A full tuition fee waiver (charged at the overseas rate)
- A living cost grant of £16,440
- Sussexsport membership
How to Apply
To apply, applicants must:
- First, receive and accept an offer to study an eligible Master’s degree at the University of Sussex.
- Complete the scholarship application by 1 June 2025 at 23:59.
